With 25+ yrs bodywork experience, I've been a full-time certified massage therapist focusing on sports massage/deep tissue work predominantly since '92. I've changed my approach to client's problems/muscle issues dramatically. First, I aggressively address the knots or muscle restrictions (using measureable pressure & sports massage techniques); then, as time allows, I complete the session with (comparatively)easier techniques. No one sleeps during the 1st 3 sessions!! Given this approach--if you see me 3 times in 4-5 wks, then come every 2,3 or 4 wks for maintenance, your muscles will thank you before your next accident/injury/trauma. Don't wait until you can't move to call me--but most people do!!!

Timing of your appointments--you should come in as soon after your hardest workout as possible, which will cut your recovery time by up to 80%. However, if you choose to wait, you'll continue to receive the recovery benefit before your next workout. FYI--most people think "I'll feel normal in a few days without a massage" and this is true, yet prolonged. But, you're cumulatively overstressing the major muscle groups, needlessly. If you continue to do this until you're about 30-33 yrs old, you'll find that your muscles will be very sore and inflexible all the time.

Timing of your major event massages--once you're in a bodyworking cycle, if you come to see me 10 days prior and 3 days prior, muscularly, you'll have your best event. My clients who compete have reported their timing being off if they come to me closer than 2 days before their event. Calling me @ 703-281-4381 (home office) of my voicemail @ 703-598-4131 are the best ways to coordinate scheduling, as I go where I'm being paid.
