Since 1994, Lorraine has been in practice as a massage therapist. She has developed her skills through education and working with clients of all ages. Lorraine works with men if they have been referred from a health practitioner or from one of her clients. Her special interests include SPORTS MASSAGE FOR WOMEN which deeply works specific muscles, tendons, and joints used in a physical activity as sports; SWEDISH MASSAGE which moves fluids and cleanses the body; DEEP-TISSUE FOCUSED WORK which includes working on specific areas of the body needing special attention such as injury, pre/post exercising, stress-related sore neck, headaches, and back aches; MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE, which deals with the subcutaneous tissues of the body, helps the lymphatic system move fluids back into the blood stream at a higher rate than normal, which is effective with over-worked and injured muscles. Lorraine also has special interests in teaching PEDIATRIC MASSAGE in the home AND COUPLES MASSAGE at Arlington Hospital's HEALTH PROMOTION. When the weather gets cooler (Sept/Oct), she will offer HOT ROCK MASSAGE which is GREAT at relaxing tight and sore muscles.
Lorraine has a lovely, quiet, private, professional office sharing the 5 room space with three psychologists of whom two are the owners of the office suite. Her room is inviting and comfortable. She has an electric table which raises and lowers to help her get into the right position for her massage techniques. The table holds up to 500 pounds, Sessions usually last one hour but plan to spend up to two hours initially as she gets to know you and your needs, your health history, plus she offers education and suggestions for 'homework' which helps to continue the healing process.
Lorraine has GREAT hours and would love to accomodate your schedule! She works by appointment only and sees clients every day of the week. So, if you would like to make an appointment, have questions that need to be answered, or would like a brochure sent to you, call Lorraine Hancock at 703-909-0299. And you can check out her website: rubdown.info for more information on her full-time practice. Lorraine is seeking new clients. FYI: Current VA Massage Therapist Certification #0019000232. Current VA Registered Nurse License #0001068875.
